hey I was thinking of building a new computer and I have picked out some parts I like on newegg. There is a slight question, though whether the processor and motherboard are compatible - maybe someone can help me out with this:
motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131340
cpu:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103254
thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Use the specification tabs on new egg. You will have your answer.
Check the CPU socket types. If they match, they work.
Those two are compatible.

The mobo has an AM2/AM2+ socket; the CPU is AM2+. You'll be fine. IIRC the Phenom triple cores are awful, though, and in that price range you are far better off with a C2D (whereas even lower budgets are well off with an Athlon 64 X2).

Haven't been keeping up with all the zany new processor names. Who's currently on top and by how much and why, Intel or AMD? Referring to say the i7 (not extreme) and AMDs fastest (not retardedly overpriced processor)?
ie: I was considering the Intel i7 940, but when comparing it to the Intel i7 920, the gain wasn't worth the $200+ cash over the 920.
